The rights of peoples and the decolonization of Africa in dialogue with critical perspectives on territory and intersectionality

Abstract

In this work we will develop a socio-historical view from an analysis of published and audiovisual documents about how it was conceived in the sixties along with the decolonization processes of the French colonies in Africa, a conception of the rights rights that would later appear condensed in the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and later still in the African human rights system, but also crossed views and conceptions in opinion courts such as the Russell Court I and II and the Permanent Court de los Pueblos in the present with the many cases it has dealt with. We propose some categories that allow us to mark the specificity and singularity of this current. In a second part we recover this view in the Latin American context and specifically in the Colombian Pacific region, approaching precisely from the sociological category of «territory» in order to describe the socio-geographical particularities that this territory presents as well as the actors and actresses that inhabit it in a context of struggles to exercise environmental and cultural rights. To the extent that this tropical forest territory is crossed by a complex network of political and economic interests embodied by drug trafficking groups and large multinationals, alternative projects that implement counter-hegemonic practices emerge within their communities, mostly populations Afro-Colombian and indigenous, to question from the local and under an intersectional perspective, the neoliberal dynamics of the world economic system following Wallerstein.
