Abstract

This work by Brazilian historian Rodrigo Sá Patto Motta is of the highest relevance for the current Brazilian political scene, particularly as the work of the National Truth Commission, the Provincial Commissions, and the University Truth Commissions consolidate and bring to the public sphere debates surrounding the reconstruction of the collective memory of those who suffered political and ideological persecution during the authoritarian years between 1964 and 1985, a time of seeking truth and justice regarding the state crimes committed during that period.
