Resumo
Este artigo realiza uma genealogia da teoria crítica do desenvolvimento em relação ao marxismo, que desempenhou um papel dominante no campo do estudo do desenvolvimento. Ele traça os pontos de vista complexos do próprio Karl Marx, para mostrar mais tarde a virada do leninismo, a prática do desenvolvimento no mundo socialista, para finalmente assumir o desafio do pós-desenvolvimento. Nossa ênfase está nas tensões e contradições e não assumimos o desenvolvimento linear de uma teoria unificada do desenvolvimento crítico.
