Abstract
The interview conducted with Alfonso Torres Carrillo addresses the current situation of popular education (PE) in Latin America, exploring its state of the art and associated practices. The aim was to deepen the understanding of PE through Torres Carrillo's perspective, who emphasizes the need for further documentation and systematization of PE practices, as well as the importance of its epistemic, ethical, and political grounding. The relevance of adapting PE to specific socio-educational contexts to foster self-management and local development was discussed. The conclusions highlight the urgency of educating educators with a critical vision that promotes social transformation and the dialogue of knowledge, considering the diversity of experiences on the continent.
